Localization in Oracle Cloud: An Insight into Latin America Cloud Local Solution (LACLS)

Latin American Countries like Mexico, Brazil and others have country-specific requirement (legal, financial, or cultural contexts) commonly called as localization. For example, in Mexico SAT provides a INPC fator to apply to asset depreciation amounts and generate accounting according SAT requirements.

These are legal, financial requirments and differs county to county.

For specific regional needs, especially in Latin America, Oracle Cloud developed the Latin America Cloud Local Solution (LACLS).

What is LACLS?

LACLS is a tailored solution for seventeen Latin American countries. Countries currently under the LACLS umbrella include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

Users can access specific assets and documentation through links provided for each country in this document for in-depth details.

From a technical point of view, the LACLS solutions is distributed among statutory reports and extractors in the BI-SaaS, and other functionalities in the PaaS, using OIC and Database, depending on the country.

This you can setup manually or using the LACLS Maintenance Assistant tool provided by Oacle. This Oracle Application Express (APEX) developed application facilitates the updating and maintenance of LACLS components across various cloud services.

While Oracle provides comprehensive solutions, it is the responsibility of the client to ensure the installation, maintenance, and updating of the LACLS product.

Bug Fix, New Enhancement Request and Support Guidlines

Oracle ensures that LACLS is consistently updated to meet changing regional demands. Cumulative packs are released quarterly for each country. Additionally, Oracle might issue spot releases for highly critical bug fixes, which are then included in the quarterly packs.

Oracle extends its support to LACLS through My Oracle Support (MOS). Clients can report issues and problems by opening a Service Request (SR) in the LACLS product. Oracle ensures transparency by communicating the progress of the SR, especially if there’s a bug reported.

Unlike other standard products, LACLS doesn’t use Cloud Customer Connect for feature requests. Instead, any enhancement request is opened by Support based on customer SRs.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Oracle Cloud, with its emphasis on localization through solutions like LACLS, underscores the importance of understanding and catering to regional needs in the ever-evolving cloud computing landscape.

This approach not only ensures compliance with regional requirements but also enhances user experience and satisfaction.
